I still remember my mock CAT results in late 2002. Things might have been different if i had fared well in that exam, but the results suggested me that i will not get an entry into any of the B-Schools.
No regrets what so ever.
My first day at work - 3rd Feb'2003: Ingersoll Rand, Peenya Bangalore
After getting my bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 2002, i took me several months to get into a job. Finally managed to get a job in a mechanical industry.
I had to ride like 20 odd kilometers to reach my work place. Just out of the college and in my early 20's, speed used to thrill me as well. There was one stretch of 5 kms on the outer ring road, i used to always hit 100kmph in my RX135 Yamaha bike (of-course my brother's bike) .
I was excited about my new job. A job any mechanical engineer would dream of, big machineries, all possible equipments what i saw in my text books, were being used there.
I expected that i could retire from that company. Soon, i found that nobody values time there(now i realize i was wrong). It was India/Bangladesh match of 2003 cricket world cup, and i had to leave early to view the match. I went to my boss and asked if i could leave early, reason - cricket match (College boy attitude-get real dude).
Work is about discipline and dedication. My first lesson in my professional life.
Six months later i had to submit my resignation. People were happy to relieve me on the same day.
Remembering my first day at work: 3rd Feb'2010: Yahoo Software, EGL Bangalore.
With the completion of 7 years at work, it has been a great learning personally and professionally.
Work is all about discipline and dedication.
